Review:
The latest murder in this fabulous series happens on the one day in your life when you really don't want to come across a dead body. But poor Hannah, who had to arrange for an alternative vicar, as the one who was meant to marry her to her sweetheart, Darius (finally!) had disappeared without a trace, has to suffer a nasty surprise even on the supposedly happiest day of her life...
She stumbles across the vicar in her late best friend's family mausoleum, and he's dead!
And what initially looks like a tragic accident soon turns into a hunt for a murderer. With Darius busy at the War Office, leaving her too often on her own immediately after their wedding, Hannah embarks on her own investigation, together with her indomitable Aunt Violet. And together, they uncover clues the police has overlooked. Despite being told to leave it, they persevere, and the plot thickens.
Who killed the young vicar? And why? Well, read the book!
Murder at the Wedding is a brand-new instalment in this fabulous murder mystery series, and although Hannah is no longer 'Miss Merrill', marriage doesn't stop her from sleuthing.
In this story, the bookshop she runs with her Aunt Violet plays a smaller role, as the focus is on her newly married life in her new home (with her husband's frequent, but unavoidable absences) and on Aunt Violet's partner, now Detective Chief Inspector Aidan Farrell, and utterly bored in his new, sedentary, role.
I thought it was clever to bring in Aidan's career problem – no longer the one out investigating. You can sense his frustration with the lack of attention to detail from his subordinate, who quickly pins the murder on an innocent. What does the future hold for him? I'm really curious!
The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns, with new details emerging from different sources – including a fascinating journey to Aunt Violet's distant past, of which we usually hear very little. This time, we learn more about her years as a young debutante, and the company she kept at the time. Very revealing stuff! I thoroughly enjoyed finding out more about this irreverent character who loves to defy convention.
Murder at the Wedding is an evocative mystery that delves into the characters’ past, and reveals long-kept secrets. A highly enjoyable plot that has you reading late into the night. Make sure to check out this intriguing series right from the start, to get the most out of it!

Blurb:
Hannah Merrill is about to marry the love of her life…
The couple are determined their low-key celebration will go without a hitch, but there can’t be an ‘I do’ while the vicar is missing. And when he’s found dead – a victim of a poisoning – in the crypt behind the church, Hannah knows only she and Aunt Violet can find out who did it.
Hannah’s beloved thinks she shouldn’t interfere. But if he fails to remember that an independent woman in 1916 doesn’t do what she’s told to by a man, the dead vicar may be the least of his worries…
Then the vicar’s own fiancé appears on the scene, even though nobody knew he was engaged. And suddenly it becomes clear someone has a secret, one shocking enough to kill for.
Will the intrepid pair of amateur sleuths catch the murderer before they kill again? Or will it be til death parts them all?
